Federal and state tax credits are determined based on the the cost and the type of energy efficient upgrade you do to your home.

Federal tax credits can range from 10% to 30% for the installation of biomass stoves, air source heat pumps, central air condition, gas, propain, or oil hot water boiler, insulation, roofs, water heaters, windows, doors and skylights, Geothermal heat pumps, small wind turbines(residential), solar energy systems and fuel cells.
Arizona Tax credits and rebates are available to property owners who upgrade or maintain renewable energy sources. In Arizona, there are a number of tax credits available for installation of solar. Any combination of the upgrades that collect and transfer solar generated energy by active or passive means, including wind generator systems that produce electricity, may qualify. A solar energy devices that may qualify include heating, cooling, production of electricity and mechanical power and lighting.

Utility Credits
APS utility company offers rebates for energy efficient upgrades to new construction or a current home. Rebates are paid based on the amount of energy saved. APS will assess the energy use of your existing equipment compared to the proposed equipment. Once the equipment is installed, APS will pay a rebate of $0.11kWh saved in the first year – up to 75% of the incremental cost.
